Training on smart and precision farming practices under conditions of climate change and water scarcity

The "Training on Smart and Precision Farming Practices under Conditions of Climate Change and Water Scarcity", funded by the European Union, is taking place on 8–12 May 2026 at the Ankara International Akar Hotel. This comprehensive programme, which also involves the Green Development Association and VERDE – Center for Research, Innovation and Sustainable Development, aims to integrate technology-oriented solutions in agricultural production into practice in the field. The training focuses on developing a team of experts who will lay the foundation for sustainable agricultural policies in response to the climate crisis and water constraints.

The five-day programme covers an intensive curriculum. The sessions address critical topics such as the water-energy-food nexus, satellite- and UAV-supported agricultural monitoring techniques, the use of GIS-based sensor infrastructure in smart irrigation systems, digitalisation in agriculture, and the integration of IoT and artificial intelligence. Farmer vulnerability under climate change conditions and the social dynamics of adopting smart farming technologies are also examined.

In the later days of the training, a field visit will be made so that theoretical knowledge can be put into practice, and field applications will be observed on site. In the final part of the programme, province-based training modules will be designed and information on agricultural incentives will be shared. The event will conclude with group presentations, a group photo and a certificate ceremony.
