Under our project, lavender planting has been completed in the pilot fields identified in Şanlıurfa, İzmir, Ankara, Adana and Sakarya. Lavender, which saves water and improves soil fertility, will contribute to scaling up sustainable farming practices while providing farmers with an alternative source of income.
The fields where the planting took place were identified as the Kındırali locality in the Bozova district of Şanlıurfa (block 134, parcel 4), the Gazipaşa neighbourhood in the Dikili district of İzmir (block 444, parcel 19), the Nallıdere area in the Nallıhan district of Ankara (block 108, parcel 111), the Zeytinli neighbourhood in the Seyhan district of Adana (block 14064, parcel 16) and the Karadere area in the Hendek district of Sakarya (block 137, parcel 41). In these areas, smart irrigation systems, precision farming techniques and environmentally friendly production models will be applied to develop a farming practice that is both productive and respectful of nature.
The pilot fields planted with lavender will enable farmers and agricultural sector stakeholders in the region to observe the process on site and learn about innovative and sustainable farming methods. We will continue to share developments throughout the project.
