Local Policy Dialogue Planning Meeting for sustainable agriculture held in Ankara

Ankara Planning Meeting

1. Purpose of the activity

The main purpose of the Planning Meeting to be held in Ankara is:
to transform the producer data obtained through the “measure in the field – record – plan – improve” approach into a measurable, applicable and traceable production and marketing plan specific to the Ankara basin.

In this context, the meeting aims to:

strengthen a production discipline that bases producers' daily decisions on data,

clarify applicable planning steps for precision farming practices in the Ankara field,

integrate observations from the field into institutional decision-making processes,

address value-added production and market access models, particularly for medicinal and aromatic plants, from a planning perspective.

At the meeting, the Agricultural Advocacy approach and the working system of the Anatolian Farmers' Council (AÇM) will be addressed by turning them into planning tools specific to Ankara.

2. Meeting scope and planning method

The focus of the planning meeting for the Ankara field will be:
medium- and long-term production planning that addresses the soil–water–plant relationship as a whole, reduces costs, increases water efficiency and reduces climate risks.

2. Planning findings and assessments for the Ankara field

In line with field observations carried out around Ankara and producer feedback, the following topics will be addressed from a planning perspective at the meeting:

Aligning irrigation planning with water resources and climate data

Redesigning fertilisation programmes according to soil analyses and crop targets

Assessing the effects of plot-based differences in practice on yield and cost

Making early warning, observation and record-keeping processes part of producers' routine

The aim is to plan these assessments with measurable targets and monitoring indicators in the Ankara field.

3. Training and information content of the planning meeting

3.1 Precision farming and sustainable planning for Ankara

3.2 Agricultural Advocacy and the Anatolian Farmers' Council planning model

It will be stated that observations from producers should not remain isolated feedback, but should be turned into planning inputs based on verifiable data.
It will be shared that the planning outputs for the Ankara field will be reported in line with the AÇM cycle.

3.3 Ankara-focused value-added planning for medicinal and aromatic plants

Taking into account Ankara's climate and market conditions, the following will be addressed:

the production–processing–marketing chain for medicinal and aromatic plants,

transformation models applicable at producer scale,

planning options that ensure income stability through increased added value.

4. Planning outputs and follow-up mechanism

Existing field data for the Ankara field will be turned into planning input.

The findings will be reported in line with the Anatolian Farmers' Council's planning cycle.

A dissemination and implementation plan specific to Ankara will be prepared for good practices.

Monitoring indicators will be set after the meeting, and the implementation process will be monitored regularly.

Conclusion

The Planning Meeting to be held in Ankara aims to turn the producer experience and data gathered in the field into a strategic production and marketing plan.
Through this meeting, the aim is to build a strong basis for sustainable precision farming to progress in the Ankara field in a measurable and traceable manner, aligned with institutional decision-making processes.

In the coming period, the data-driven approach to generating impact will be continued through planning meetings in different basins, in line with the “Greener Tomorrow” goal.
